Stlye Spotlight: Duck and Cover 2011 Autumn/Winter Collection

"A/W11 is split into two halves. Firstly, looking to the docks for inspiration referencing nautical work wear. The color palette ranges from chilling blue hues through to winter desert shades, accented with bright pops of color. Smart, multifunctioning pockets, cocoon hoods and heavy profile stitching detail the collection. Collection highlights include pique fleeces, gilets and rib-cuffed denims. Deep funnel neck shapes, some of which zip into hoods and graphical interpretations of fairisle patterns are also key new developments.

The second half of the collection fuses military style with traditional streetwear, using insulative fabrics such as washed corduroy, shearling lining, compact melton wool and bonded fleece. Urban neo-black and greys mixed with a military base in khaki, dessert green and reds pepper the collection. Shirt jackets remain essential to the brand, a key style high- lighted in denim chambray, hooded fleece and lined in shearling.

The well-constructed core collection comprises of the ‘oxford’ shirt and uniquely detailed polo tops. Updated crew and half funnel necks in rib and sweatshirt and 12gg knitwear, 5gg detailed knitwear-jackets, and a strong collection of shearling-trimmed outerwear make up the heavier pieces. Wash treatments and rough finishes are instrumental to the character of this collection, which is both modern and authentic."
